PORTUGUESE FOOD
This tasty treat, with its distinctive caramelized, crème-brûlée like topping, isrecognised by many as Portugal’s favourite dessert. History would have it that theywere first made in the 13th century by monks of the Jeronimos Monastery in Belém,Lisbon. Following the Liberal Revolution of 1820, the monks were faced with theprospect of their monastery being closed, and in an enterprising move decided tocreate income for the brotherhood by selling the Pasteis de nata to a local sugarrefinery. Three years later the refinery owners opened the Fábrica de Pasteis de Belém,run by descendants of the original owners, who even today are still using the ancientrecipe of the monks. So roll up your sleeves and join our expert pastry chef who will guide you on a culinaryjourney learning the secrets and tips behind creating the sweetest of treats. Onceyou’ve nailed it you’ll never look back as you delight friends and family with yourpatisserie pleasures.DURATIONapprox. 1hLOCATIONThe Kitchen LabMIN/MAX4/12 guestsat the same time“PASTEIS DE NATA”the origins of a classic taste of Lisbon
